Prime Time Weeds

May 21 - This Sunday (May 23), IPTV (Iowa Public Television) will air an episode of Nature that focuses on plant seeds:  The Seedy Side of Plants.  The show starts at 8:00 PM.  While I'm sure the show won't focus totally on weeds, it is likely that at least some of the topics will involve common weed species (I spotted a dandelion and what I think was wild oat in a promotional clip).  Regardless, it should be a fascinating look at an important characteristic of most weed species - the ability of seeds to persist and germinate under a wide variety of environmental conditions.
