The Battle Creek Watershed Project:

  • Affects 34,000 acres in Ida county, Iowa.
  • Involves more than 200 farm owners and producers.
  • Impacts water supplies for Battle Creek, Holstein, farms, and rural residents.

From April 1997 to January 2001, the project's coordinator, Chris Jennings, was an Environmental Specialist with the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship. He oversaw the activities of the project, including technical and educational assistance to farmers and residents, as well as the development of the project's GIS resources.

As project information specialist, Peg Peters, continues to promote the project to the public and to schools with photographs, newsletters, newspaper articles, brochures, displays, and public meetings. She is an Information Specialist with Iowa State University Extension.

The Battle Creek Watershed Project is a cooperative effort involving many partners at the local, state and national level.
