Hail Injury Study
Every year soybean producers across the United States are confronted with significant yield losses from hail storms. Much research has been conducted on the impact of hail on soybean physiology and on soybean recovery from defoliation. However, little information exists on how the soybean plant recovers from node removal, which could influence replant decisions.
The objective of this study is to find out how soybeans recover from node removal at different growth stages and how this impacts soybean grain yield and composition. The project is being conducted in collaboration with Dr. Shawn P. Conley at Purdue University.
This project is funded by the National Crop Insurance Services
